We built this because someone in our family has diabetes.
Like millions of Kerala families, we were trying to eat healthier — and running into the same walls everyone else was.
The vegetables at the local market weren't labelled. You didn't know if they were local or cold-stored from another state. Finding diabetic-friendly recipes meant sifting through blogs full of ads and generic advice that didn't understand Kerala's food culture. And once you found something to cook, getting all the ingredients meant three separate stops.
The problem wasn't motivation. It was friction.
Roots to Bowls started as a simple question: what if eating fresh and healthy was as easy as ordering anything else from your phone? What if every recipe came with the freshest local produce, ready to add to your cart in one tap?
We're building that — starting in Kochi, focused on the health needs Kerala families actually have.
What we believe
Four principles that guide every decision we make.
Fresh is non-negotiable
We source daily from farms within 100km of Kochi. If it isn't fresh today, it isn't on the app today.
Health for real families
Not Instagram health. Real Kerala meals adapted for blood sugar, cholesterol, and BP — by people who actually have to manage them.
Remove the friction
Every feature we build asks: does this make eating well easier? If not, we cut it. We're not trying to be Amazon.
Grow with the community
Local farms. Local vendors. Local customers. The more RtB grows, the more it benefits the people and land around it.
The health challenge we're building for
of Kerala adults have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes — one of the highest rates in India.
families in urban Kerala has at least one member managing high cholesterol or hypertension.
is the annual spend on diabetes medication in Kerala alone — before you count lost productivity.
We're not a medical app. We don't make health claims. What we do is remove the barriers between families and the fresh, healthy food that they already know they should be eating — and make the experience genuinely enjoyable.
